Zebrazoo Consulting completes £18m development programme for NHS Trust

Zebrazoo Consulting was appointed in October 2009 to undertake an £18m programme of change for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Trust. Today marks the culmination of this 19 month programme with all projects having been delivered within budget and on time (and in some cases ahead of time). This programme of change included:

  • Outsourcing Pathology Blood Sciences via a 10 year £10m managed services contract to Siemens. This included the installation of a new fully automated laboratory track. The project had significant interdependencies with the Pathology refurbishment project outlined below
  • Refurbishing the entire Pathology Unit. The £1m refurbishment included the installation of a new environmental cooling system. The project was delivered while the Pathology Unit remained operational providing a full set of services to the Hospital and to West Norfolk GP surgeries
  • The construction of a new £2m state of the art Aseptic & Radiopharmacy unit. The Aseptic Unit is a ultra-sterile environment in which specialised drugs (e.g. chemotherapy drugs) and food products can be manufactured. These products have a very short shelf life and need to be made on site.
  • A new £4.3m modular unit building housing a 27 bed ward and open plan office space for 100 staff
  • A £500K refurbishment of the hospital’s A&E department. The project was delivered while the department continued to provide a full A&E service
  • The relocation of 90 staff into the new open plan office space
  • Coordinating the set up of a project management office for the Trust including all documentation, policies and procedures
